Hurricane Restoration 2015

In response to the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Joaquin in 2015, this project focused on the construction of a new 120-foot self-support tower to restore critical cellular and mobile communication services in the affected area. The previous monopole tower was severely damaged during the hurricane, resulting in service disruptions and structural hazards.

As part of routine tower maintenance and network optimization efforts, the project involved the removal of outdated antenna mounts and omni-directional antennas from the existing tower infrastructure. The obsolete equipment was no longer in service and posed both structural and operational inefficiencies.

The scope of work included:

Site assessment and removal of the damaged monopole tower
Engineering and design of a robust 120ft self-support lattice tower to withstand extreme weather conditions
Foundation work and civil preparations to support the new structure
Full tower erection, including rigging, alignment, and structural verification
Installation of cellular and microwave equipment to resume network operations
Final inspection and commissioning to ensure full service restoration

The project was a vital part of the region’s infrastructure recovery and helped re-establish reliable mobile connectivity for residents, emergency services, and local businesses.
